Riva is a Brazilian brand specializing in working with noble metals. Utilizing three existing molds, one oval and two circular sizes, Arthur Casas developed the design of the Sucupira wood supports to create the centerpiece. The piece combines the natural material with striped veins and the austerity of stainless steel. Its name pays homage to the jacaranda tree, which has given rise to many design products and shares a chocolate-toned hue like Sucupira.
By using existing molds, we are giving new meaning to their stories. Developing molds is a significant investment for any industry, and when a product is no longer sold, the mold becomes waste. For this collection, we joined the forces of two industries, establishing a collaborative process and gaining a stunning decorative tabletop object in the process.
