“testemunho” is the name given to a stone sample extracted from a quarry to serve as a color reference; its analysis precedes the actual extraction process. these typically discarded pieces have a slender, conical shape that, if not for this process, would require sculpting. arthur casas embraces the raw beauty of rafaello samples, sourced from brazil’s central-west region, to create the base of a lamp by joining a few rods. the shade is made of metal mesh, creating a contrast between lightness and weight. its translucency and material required a special structure, developed by the studio objeto team.
